Eagles Win A Crazy Game
This was one of those games. It had a little bit of everything. Long touchdown passes. Even longer punt returns. Horrible defense. Blown coverages. Dropped passes. Poor tackling. Weird bounces. Dumb penalties. Horrendous officiating. A fight. Whew!!
When the smoke cleared and all was said and done, the Eagles took advantage of lots o’ big plays and a few missed opportunities by the Giants to win 45-38, and seize sole possession of first place in the NFC East. It was wild, wacky and ultimately nerve-racking to watch.
A key 91-yard fourth quarter drive that resulted in a Leonard Weaver touchdown and two-point conversion by Jason Avant sealed the deal for the Birds.
Hopefully, this was just an anomaly as far as the defense is concerned, because they allowed over 500 yards to Eli Manning and Co. Not good. The tackling was horrific and the coverage non-existent. Quintin Mikell played maybe his worst game as a pro. Sheldon Brown was torched repeatedly. Work needs to be done if the Eagles want to go far.
DeSean Jackson was the star on this night. 261 total yards and two touchdowns was a nice welcome back after missing last week with a concussion. With Jeremy Maclin’s season in question due to a torn plantar, Jackson’s electric plays will be needed down the stretch.
I’m going to celebrate the win and worry about other issues tomorrow. Four wins in a row. Three games left. Go EAGLES!!

And to think I almost tweeted you early in the game that the Eagles defense would come around.
So glad I deleted that tweet.
