Cheesesteak of the Week

Posted by: Scott Tunstall

I rewatched the Sunday nighter. It’s even crazier the second time around. I picked up on at least three more bad calls and about five missed tackles by the Eagles defense. I also noticed Sean Jones make a great play on Ahmad Bradshaw’s wacky catch and run late in the contest. If he doesn’t stay home in center field, Bradshaw scores easily. In a game filled with numerous defensive mistakes, there was one play where a guy did what he was supposed to do.

On to the cheesesteak. This one was easy. I debated about loading up the bun with O-lineman, but I thought better of it. The bigs up front played well, but this game belonged to two players. And the winners are…

DeSean Jackson and Donovan McNabb

Someone really didn’t like sitting out last week. DJax racked 261 total yards and found the end zone twice. He also tied an NFL record for most touchdowns over 50 yards in a season with eight. One more and the record is his. I knew the guy was good, but I had no idea he was this electric. Without a doubt, he is the most explosive big play wide receiver in the game right now.

It was another solid, steady game for Don: 17/26 for 275 with two TD tosses and a pick. He misfired on the deep ball to Reggie and rushed a throw to an open Leonard Weaver, but was spectacular during the 91-yard game-deciding drive. As long as he keeps his composure and sets his feet, Don is sound as a pound.

Up next is a playoff clinching game with the Niners. I’m anticipating a stellar effort from the defense. They are feeling more than a little embarrassed, as well they should.

excellent picks. if there was a third, i’d give it to jason peters. know what’s sad? the people who still will not give mcnabb his due. that INTwas more celek’s fault than mcnabb’s.

on a side note, is there any greater moment of anticipation this year when the OL stymies a 6-man blitz and mcnabb can sit in the pocket, relaxed? you know where the ball is going, and you know that the defense is screwed.

jackson is not of this planet. no human being can move like that and score on special teams.

I meant to point out that the pick was more Celek’s fault. Looks like he turned the wrong way. He’s still learning, but the dude is gonna be a beast for years to come.

If (big if) the O-line can keep Don clean, this offense can shred anyone. However, defenses will start to take DeSean away, or at least try. I hope Big Weave and Shady can pick up the slack in the run game. Can’t rely on big plays all the time.
