Reid and McNabb Unveil The Vick Plan
In their weekly meeting on Wednesday, Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb revealed what we fans have long been yearning to learn: how they plan to utilize Michael Vick so as to fully exploit his many talents. Hooray! The plan all along was to wait until Vick’s triumphant return to Atlanta. Well, the wait is over. It’s the battle of the Birds on Sunday. Here’s a little behind the scenes peek at what the coach and quarterback have been concocting for the last three months. Reid and McNabb clink glasses of Cognac. Reid: Well, we cut the last one a bit [...]
Perspective On The Eagles
I’ve been extremely critical of the Eagles this season. For a myriad of reasons, they play an inconsistent and sometimes dumb brand of football. That being said, they are 7-4 and once again in prime position to seize a playoff spot for the eighth time in eleven years. That’s pretty impressive when you consider what this team has endured since before training camp even began. Let’s recap, shall we:
The Book On Chris Redman
The quarterback the Eagles will face on Sunday is no stranger to being under enter. Chris Redman has played six NFL seasons and compiled a 4-6 record as a starter. He’s tossed 19 career touchdowns to just 10 interceptions. His last extended playing time came in 2007 when he started four games and was part of a revolving door in the first season of the post-Vick era. Atlanta was 4-12 that year, but Redman put up some decent numbers, despite losing three of four games. Here are his stats from ’07: Game Comp/Att Yards TD/INT NO 23/40 298 2/1 @TB [...]
Falcons Just Signed Our White Whale
Remember this? Well, the Falcons cut kicker Jason Elam and signed Matt Bryant (aka ASSHOLE) to replace him. Let’s hope Sunday’s game doesn’t come down to a last second field goal. Unless it’s Akers booting it through the uprights. —————— In other news, as expected, wide receiver Jordan Norwood has been elevated to the active 53-man roster. To make room, cornerback Ramzee Robinson was dumped. This move would seem to signal that DeSean‘s odds of playing are not good.
Eagles Extend Brent Celek
The Eagles front office continues to lock up its young core of rising talent. On the heels of last week’s four-year extension of right tackle Winston Justice comes word today that tight end Brent Celek has inked a brand spanking new six-year deal that will keep him in midnight green until 2016. Congrats to Celek! He totally deserves it. At present, he is the Birds leading receiver in ’09 with 54 catches. His five touchdowns ranks second on the team behind only DeSean Jackson. This leaves Jason Avant as the last key remaining offensive weapon not yet in the fold. [...]
Cheesesteak of the Week
I’m not sure I can take many more of these barnburners. Fourth quarter comebacks are exciting and good for TV ratings, but I’d be okay with a good ol’ fashioned butt-whoopin’. Much easier on the blood pressure. Enough of my whining. Let’s hand out a tasty cheesesteak, shall we. I had a tough time narrowing down this week’s winners. Five or six guys were under consideration, but I settled on three. The winners are…
