Eagles-Cowboys Playoff Prediction
Andy Reid has never lost an opening round playoff game. The Cowboys haven’t won a postseason contest since the 1996 season. Something’s gotta give. In two wins over our beloved Birds, the ‘Boys have played smart football. Let me write that again, “smart.” The best way to beat an up the field blitzing defense is with three-step drops and delayed draws. Thus far, Sean McDermott and his charges haven’t had any answers.
Ten Things I Hate About the Cowboys
If you’re a true Eagles fan, then you are predisposed to hate the Dallas Cowboys. All those Super Bowl rings and the “America’s Team” label are enough to make our green blood boil. Of course there are many more things to loathe about the Cowboys. With that in mind, I figured I’d climb into my flame retardant suit and roll out ten things I personally can’t stomach about the Birds’ biggest rival. Here it goes:
Throw Out The Trash
Ah, good ol’ technology. Thanks to such clever inventions as Twitter and UStream, we get to be privy to the inner-most thoughts of DeSean Jackson. Hooray! In the wake of last Sunday’s vicious beating at the hands of the Cowboys, DeSean has unleashed an internet campaign of smack talk pointed directly at the Cowboys defense. Ya know, the same bunch who shutout the Eagles 24-0 and have held DeSean out of the end zone this season. Evidently, DJax still isn’t impressed. He had this to say via his Twitter account on Tuesday (which I guess is real): “We gonna sting [...]
Remember Baltimore
November 23, 2008. A date which will live in infamy for Eagles Nation. The day Donovan McNabb was benched. The day the Eagles were destroyed by the Ravens 36-7. I recall those being some of the darkest times in my 25+ years of fandome. The future looked very bleak indeed. Uncertainty enveloped the organization. Reid and McNabb‘s attachment at the hip was severed. The season appeared lost. An upheaval from within seemed inevitable. Then a funny thing happened on the way to the franchise being set on fire and set adrift. The Eagles, on a short week, traveled home to [...]
Put Down the Razor Blades and Pill Bottles
That familiar wailing you hear would be many Eagles fans calling for heads as they look to the sky in preparation of its inevitable fall. Getting drubbed with so much on the line is tough to stomach and forgive. It’s doubly tough to endure when said drubbing comes at the hands of the hated Cowboys. Hey, it sucks. I’m not here to make excuses for the deplorable performance put together by the Birds. They deserve all the vitriol and lambasting you can muster. That being said, I think the rage should be tempered until we see how they respond this [...]
Eagle Eye Observations: Week 17
Yikes! That sure was ugly. In fine Philly fashion, the Eagles took a giant dump in the season finale to make the long, arduous journey to the-game-that-shall-not-be-named a lot more difficult. I take no satisfaction in correctly predicting a Cowboys victory. A gnawing discomfort in my stomach told me things would go badly for our beloved Birds. Time for one more look from the Eagle Eye: The Eagles finish 11-5. Not bad. Unfortunately, not one of those wins came against a playoff team. An 0-4 record against postseason participants does little to improve that gnawing sensation. Padding stats versus the [...]
Eagles-Cowboys Part Trois Will Be In Primetime
While we’re still wallowing in the misery of a crushing loss to the Cowboys, we can take solace that the Wildcard game will be in primetime this Saturday night at 8pm on NBC. Wait a minute… the last time these two teams met during primetime on NBC the Eagles lost. Curses! The guys in green can’t buy a break. Nevertheless, we have one less day to wait for our beloved Birds to choke lose play again. Yay!! Subscribe to ITI
Eagles Lose More Than Just A Game To Cowboys
Bye, bye NFC East title. See ya #2 seed. Sayonara off week. Some fans foolishly seemed to believe it was a foregone conclusion that the Eagles would dispose of the Cowboys. Uh… didn’t happen. Power will beat finesse almost every time and that was certainly the case today. Another flat start by pretty much everyone wearing wings translated to a good ol’ fashioned ass kicking. Kinda like the one the Birds delivered last year during week 17. As they say, revenge is a dish best served cold… ice cold. The offense misfired constantly all afternoon. Donovan was inaccurate, again. The [...]
Eagles-Cowboys Prediction
I’ve been back and forth about this one all week. On the one hand I think the Eagles are playing too well to let slip a golden opportunity to seize the #2 seed. On the the other hand I recognize the Cowboys are a hungry team looking for some payback after last year’s week 17 drubbing. The matchup is as even as it gets. Great Birds offense versus stingy ‘Boys defense. Aggressive Eagles pass rush against a poised Tony Romo. How will it all shake out? The injury to Jamaal Jackson couldn’t come at a worse time. A shuffled offensive [...]
Bye Week, Schmye Week
Do the Eagles really need a bye week to achieve their ultimate goal? There’s no doubt the extra rest and home game would help, but is it imperative? Three of the last four Super Bowl champs have taken the “hard road” to glory. That being four games rather than three to win it all. The ’07 Giants and ’05 Steelers both completed the dreaded three-week road sweep to reach the Big Game. So, it’s not like it’s impossible. I mean, the Birds almost pulled it off last year before falling in the desert. Now, the one year gang green did [...]
