It was another busy day for the Eagles. First, they acquired defensive end Darryl Tapp from the Seahawks in exchange for Chris Clemons and a 2010 fourth-round draft pick. Rumor has it, Tapp also inked a three-year extension. He better be worth it because a player and pick is a steep price to pay.
Tapp is bigger than Clemons (6-1, 270) and will add another young end to the mix, but he’s not exactly a world beater with18 sacks in 65 career games. That being said, Clemons was a major disappointment in his two seasons with the Birds. Seven sacks pretty much blows for a guy given a five-year deal. He won’t be missed.
In other news, running back Mike Bell signed a one-year offer sheet worth $1.7 million. The Saints have seven days to match. With Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush already in place, I think there’s a good chance they’ll let him go, but you never know.
