The Fujita Scale

Could the Eagles be in the market for some help at linebacker when the free agency clock strikes midnight? Inquiring minds want to know. I say they should be after witnessing the 2009 revolving door that occurred after Stewart Bradley went down. What about someone like Scott Fujita from the world champion Saints? At 6-5, 250 he’d be an ideal fit at the SAM backer. Gocong is a goner for sure and Moise Fokou is an unknown. Keep an Eye on This Guy

A couple guys jumped out at the Scouting Combine yesterday. One was defensive end Jerry Hughes from TCU. His first step is impressive and he’s known to bring heat off the edge. He’s undersized at 6’2″ 255, which has caused some pundits project him as an OLB in a 3-4 scheme. I think Hughes can play with his hand in the dirt and has the frame to add weight. He reminds me of another smallish end coming out of college: Trent Cole. Hughes tore up the Mountain West Conference the last two seasons with 36.5 tackles for loss and 26.5 [...]

The first two days of the NFL Scouting Combine are over. What did I learn? Not much that I didn’t already know, but that’s only because I’ve been wading through stacks of draft reports and game tape for the last month.
