Friday’s Missing Links
It’s once again time to explore the vast expanding universe of the Interwebs. Kurt Warner doing his best Vincent Vega impression. (Outside the Boxscore) Something strange is in the water at the Jets training facility. (NESW Sports) Could Tom Izzo be the next head coach of the woeful New Jersey Nets? (Midwest Sports Fans) A kick to the groin, followed by a thunder dunk. (The Hoop Doctors) Sam Bradford was pleased with his recent pro day workout. (NFL Mocks) A preview of the 2010 Phillies outfield. (That Balls Outta Here) The Flyers continue to be a frustrating enigma. (Broad Street [...]
Eagles Trade Brown and Gocong to Cleveland
The Eagles made a trade, just not the one you were expecting. In what I would call a mild surprise, the Birds have shipped starting cornerback Sheldon Brown and former starting linebacker Chris Gocong to Cleveland for some guy named Alex Hall and a fourth and fifth round pick in the upcoming draft. Huh? I get that Sheldon was unhappy with his contract, but he didn’t exactly make waves since last summer. Gocong was a failed experiment at linebacker, so I don’t care that he’s gone. Hall is a third-year player from St. Augustine’s. He’s listed at 6-5 250. I [...]
Are Eagles Pursuing Rob Sims?
Seahawks guard Rob Sims inked his one-year tender today. This info comes from NFL Net’s Jason La Canfora via his Twitter. Seattle RFA G Rob Sims has signed his tender, with PHI, CHI and DET seeking to acquire him via trade. Whoa, what’s that? The Eagles are interested in dealing for the 26-year-old. Hmm. It’s just another rumor, but if it’s legit, what does that mean for Stacy Andrews? Sims is a starter, not a reserve. Todd Herremans is entrenched at left guard, so that means right guard would be in play. If Nick Cole takes over at center until [...]
Joe Banner Gets Three More Years
Amidst all the McNabb hullabaloo the Eagles found time to keep their brain trust intact. Screw the starting quarterback’s happiness. It’s high time the Prez of the team got more cash. So, Joe Banner got himself a fancy new three-year contract. “Joe’s superb foresight both on and off of the football field has been a key driving force for the team’s achievements,” Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement. I wonder if Joe will drop a nice pearl of wisdom when they hold a press conference. Something along the lines of, “the definition of insanity is doing the same [...]
Inside the Iggles Interviews Jon Runyan
I don’t get the opportunity to interview one of my favorite Eagles, so I jumped at the chance to fire some questions at former Bird’s right tackle Jon Runyan, who recently traded in his cleats for a shirt and tie in his bid to win a Congressional seat. Unless you’ve been sleeping the sleep of Rip Van Winkle for the last couple weeks, you should already know big Jon has entered the political arena by running as a Republican in New Jersey’s 3rd District. For more information on his policies and how he hopes to change the government, go to [...]
