Lets Stop Hating the Cowboys, Redskins, and Giants
C’mon guys. Every week during the NFL season (and even the offseason), we spend a good chunk of our time hating on the ‘Boys, the ‘Skins, and the G-Men. When these teams are in the playoffs, you would rather see ANY other team in the league beat them, as long as these guys don’t make it to the next round! But for a little while, the lovely people at Fansided are going to take time to put down our hateful words and work together. Crazy talk, right? I know you’re asking “what’s the the heck is he talking about?” (with [...]
Son of Former Eagle Cunningham Dies Tragically
Terrible news today came out of Las Vegas today, as the 2 and half year old son of former Eagles great QB Randall Cunningham died tragically when he drowned in a the families hot tub. Cunningham’s son, Christian, was found in the hot tub at around 4:30pm yesterday. Rescuers attempted to save his life, but sadly they were unable to do so. “It appears that it’s just a complete tragedy … It only takes a brief minute for someone to take their eye off the child.” – Metro Lt. Dennis Flynn. I know this news has been shared by many [...]
DeSean Speaks
Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson was running a football camp for kids in New Jersey today and he had a few words with the guys over at the Philadelphia Inquirer. He updated the fans on his contract talks, stating that there was no progress but that he’s keeping a positive attitude and is looking forward to working with management to get a deal done. As I’ve stated in posts before, theres no doubt the Eagles want to pay this guy what he deserves but there is just too much uncertainty with the CBA to make that happen right now. As some [...]
Vick’s Predicament
I’d just like to expand a bit on the situation with Michael Vick. To summarize what happened: an old dog fighting associate of Vick was shot outside a restaurant where Vick was celebrating his 30th birthday. The altercation had something to do with someone either smashing the cake in Vicks face, or threatening to do so. After what ever happened with the cake, Vick’s old friend was shot in the parking lot of the restaurant. Although Vick is not a person of interest to police, this does not bode well for his attempted return to NFL stardom and the cleansing [...]
NFL Mocks Discusses Team Needs
Jonathan Dove over at NFL Mocks, a fellow Fansided Blog Network site, is breaking down the NFL team-by-team and looking at their team needs. Today he looked at what he sees as the needs of the teams in the NFC East were. As Eagles fans we can’t really deny any of his findings; we all know our defensive secondary and our offensive line is questionable right now. Although they could use some additions, it’s seems as though the Eagles will go into the season with these question marks, as the front office seems to have a lot of faith in [...]
What to do with Vick
Controversy and being voted Most Hated in sports aside, let’s talk about Michael Vick and his value to the Eagles. Before Mark Bulger was snatched up by the Ravens there was a lot of talk that the Eagles might have been in the market for a journeyman quarterback to back up Kevin Kolb. This scenario would most likely involve shopping Vick because there would be very limited use for him anymore. It’s really hard to tell what the Eagles want for Vick and what teams would want him in the first place. A lot of quarterbacks changed hands this offseason [...]
Check out Bradley’s New Website
Eagles LB and fan favourite Stewart Bradley has launched his personal website. If you’re anything like me, you enjoy when your favourite atheletes interact with fans through blogs and social networking sites. He’s got a blog on the go with his own personal (and pretty hilarious) views on whats going on around the NFL and the world. He’s also got links to his Twitter and Facebook page. It’s been a slow week in Eagles news, which to some may be a good thing and to others (like me) a bad thing. We’ve still go over a month to go till [...]
Father’s Day Tidbits
Happy Fathers Day to all your Dads out there! Hopefully you’re enjoying time with your family and maybe, if you’re lucky, some nice weather. I for one vote that Fathers Day should fall sometime during the NFL season.. perhaps Superbowl Sunday? Since it’s a very hectic weekend for myself (with family stuff) I’m just going to summarize some of the more important things that have been going on with the Eagles over the last few days: DeSean will be appearing on the Shaq Vs. Show. Let’s hope he’s happy with what he’s getting paid there, otherwise he might not show [...]
Nick Cole: Center of Attention
If you’ve followed the Eagles for the past decade or so, you know that Andy Reid and Co. have been known to find the hidden gems at the center position. You don’t have to look that far back to see this: Hank Fraley was an undrafted rookie signed by the Steelers then claimed by the Eagles off waivers. Jamaal Jackson was also an undrafted rookie that was picked up in 2003. This two went on to solidify the center position in Philadelphia for almost 9 seasons. The Eagles set a team record in yards passing when Fraley was anchoring the [...]
Eagles Sign Te’o-Nesheim, 3 Rookies Remain
Eagles are getting closer to signing all of the 13 draft picks from the 2010 NFL Draft. Defensive End Daniel Te’o-Nesheim was signed to a 4 year deal today. He was taken in the 3rd round (86th overall) out of the University of Washington. I didn’t agree that Te’o-Nesheim should have went so high in the draft but he is expected to provide immediate impact as an inside pash rusher. Some say e’s not very big (looks pretty solid to me!), and he might have a bit of trouble against interior lineman, but hopefully whatever it is the Eagles saw [...]
NFL & NFLPA to Talk CBA
Chris Bowen of Bolt Beat, the Fansided Network San Deigo Chargers blog, just forwarded me this great info and I thought I should share it with everyone as it really does affect every team and all the fans. According to a source close to the issue, the NFL and the NFLPA met today and there was supposed to be talk about the new collective bargaining agreement. Here is what was said by NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora: The NFL and NFLPA will meet Wednesday morning in New York in their latest session toward getting a new collective bargaining agreement, according to [...]
Eagles Sign QB Kafka, TE Harbor
A reminder to follow our new twitter account, @InsidetheIggles ! After a very, very slow news week for the Eagles we finally have something to report to you all. Eagles have signed rookie quarterback Mike Kafka and tight end Clay Harbor to 4 year deals. Kafka was drafted in the 4th round (122nd overall). He’s out of Northwestern. He’s expected to be the 3rd team QB behind Kolb and Vick. Mike is pretty quick and got a powerful arm, although he is prone to throw interceptions. I see a lot of upside in this guy and thought he was a [...]
