Ricky Sapp Signs

The Eagles continue to reel in their thirteen draft picks at a surprisingly brisk pace. Today Clemson pass rusher Ricky Sapp became the latest to sign as he inked a four-year deal with a reported signing bonus of over $200,000.

Sapp is expected to log time at right defensive end, SAM backer and possibly as a Joker in pass-rushing situations. It remains to be seen if he can shed his “tweener” stigma and find a role in Sean McDermott‘s defense.

I’d estimate his chances of making an impact at about 50/50. He’s too slight to be a full-time end and might be too stiff in the hips to cover tight ends and running backs. At any rate, the Birds have seven more rookies to sign over the next six to seven weeks.
