Update: The Eagles are calling the injury to DeSean Jackson a back injury, and the wide receiver is being evaluated tonight.
Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson was carted off the training camp field with an injury after falling awkwardly. Jackson came up grasping his lower back and stayed down on the field.
The wideout was later helped off the field by trainers, putting very little weight on one leg. Jackson made his way to a cart and was taken off the field with his hand covering his face.
Jackson also made a brief visit to the trainers tent earlier in practice with what appeared to be a minor injury to his foot. While head coach Andy Reid did not comment on the injury, Omar Gaither spoke briefly with the media. The linebacker was next to Jackson as he fell awkwardly to the ground, but said that there was no contact. “I told coach, I said ‘I didn’t touch him, I don’t knwo what happened.’”
Gaither believes that Jackson’s injury is nothing to be too worried about, “He’ll be alright, it wasn’t anything that serious. Obviously they’re going to take full precautions, but he’ll be fine.”
