Scouting the Jaguars

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles | COMMENTS: None Yet

While most of the Eagles’ focus in the preseason will be on their own execution, that doesn’t mean we can’t take a little peak at the Jaguars and their storylines coming into this game. Prior to each game this season, we’ll scout the opposition by talking with someone who covers the team. This week I spoke with Terry O’Brien, who writes for www.blackandteal.com. Terry gave me the top five areas to watch for the Jaguars.  I also did the same for him, which you can view here. 1. The Defensive Ends – Terry pointed out that the Jaguars only had [...]

Kolb to Play a Quarter Against Jacksonville

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Preseason, Training Camp | COMMENTS: None Yet

Eagles head coach Andy Reid says that starting quarterback Kevin Kolb will play about a quarter in Philadelphia’s first preseason game tomorrow night. By comparison, in the first preseason game last year Donovan McNabb played until just over five minutes remained in the second quarter, which amounted to five offensive series. Reid also said that Michael Vick will play the second quarter and half of the third quarter and Mike Kafka will play the rest of the game. The quarterback switches should also coincide with moves to the second and third strong across the board. Kolb said they won’t worry [...]

2010 Eagles Gaining Attention

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

It’s not unexpected for a team that parts ways with names like Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook to slide down a bit in the rankings of NFL critics and fans alike. Especially a team that follows this by adding almost no big name veterans to replace them. But as this newer, younger Eagles team trucks on through training camp and gains media attention one thing is becoming more evident to the world: The 2010 Eagles are going to be a force to be reckoned with. Confirmation of the skepticism surrounding the Eagles off-season aren’t hard to find. You only have [...]

Bobby April Brings Enthusiasm and Creativity to Eagles’ Special Teams

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles | COMMENTS: None Yet

It’s just another normal afternoon practice for the Eagles in the Lehigh Valley. On a special teams play, Jeff Owens bursts around an offensive lineman, lunges forward with his hands in the air and blocks… a soccer ball?

Eagles Afternoon Practice Recap

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Training Camp | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

It was a relatively uneventful afternoon for the Eagles, as they focused on Special Teams alone for the roughly one hour practice. The Birds practiced punting and punt returns, as well as onside kick coverage with their hands team. It’s still enjoyable to watch Bobby April coach up the special teams, as he always shows a ton of enthusiasm on the field. Check in tomorrow to learn more about the Eagles’ new special teams coordinator. DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin handled much of the punt return work, while Jason Avant also made an appearance in that role this morning. “I [...]

Hobbs: Don’t Judge Me On Last Year

AUTHOR: | IN: Eagles, Training Camp | COMMENTS: None Yet

Ellis Hobbs hears what people are saying about him, and he’s not going to ignore it either. The Eagles cornerback knows that some fans and media consider him to be a weak point in the defense, and Hobbs wants to prove them wrong. “It’s that dog in me that wants to prove a lot,” Hobbs said. “Just listening to some of the comments you guys say, as much as you try to ignore it, or the fans, I’m an alien in this country. You really haven’t seen what I can do. Last year was definitely not a season that you [...]
