The NFC is wide open this season, with no truly dominant teams. The Atlanta Falcons may be as close as it gets, currently perched second in the NFL in point differential. The Falcons, winners of four in a row since opening the season with a loss, look for their longest winning streak in 12 years. The Eagles hope to keep the Falcons from winning their first game in Philadelphia since 1988. Meanwhile, the winner will surely be considered to be among the top contenders in the NFC through six games. Philadelphia isn’t looking at it as a chance to make [...]
Could Kolb Be Auditioning For A Starting Job Sunday?
It’s still far too soon to render judgment on Kevin Kolb, but the Eagles need to make a decision by this Tuesday. Granted, they don’t need to make their final decision between Michael Vick and Kevin Kolb, which can wait until the end of the season. What the Eagles really need to do is decide whether to decide now or later. Rest assured that the Eagles will get phone calls from other NFL teams early this week, before Tuesday’s trade deadline, about the availability of their two quarterbacks. The most likely outcome remains that the Eagles will choose to keep [...]
Eagles’ Reid: Vick Could Dress, But Kolb Will Start
“I would like to be involved, but like I said whatever my role is, whatever we can do, that’s what we’ll do,” Vick said.
Vick Practices, Kolb Will Start
Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, hoping to return from a rib injury to play against his former team, was able to throw a few passes during practice today. Head coach Andy Reid said that there is a chance Vick dresses for the game, but Kevin Kolb will start. Vick missed last week’s game in San Francisco after going down with the injury early on against Washington the week prior.
This week on ITI Weekly, Ryan Messick, Matt Martucci and Eytan Shander discuss DeSean Jackson’s brewing discontent, Michael Vick’s status, and the magnitude of Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. They also bring on nationally syndicated ESPN radio host John Kincade to talk about the season Atlanta’s having. Weekly Show – October 15, 2010
Eagles Newest Running Back Arrives
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is nothing if not active. Since the start of the offseason, Philadelphia has made 19 trades, 12 involving more than just draft picks. In 2009, former general manager Tom Heckert made just 9 trades. While Roseman still has a little time to wheel and deal, with the deadline approaching next Tuesday, this move may be one of the more underrated moves he’s made. In swapping Mike Bell for Cleveland’s Jerome Harrison, the Eagles unloaded an injury-prone running back who had shown nothing throughout training camp or in the preseason. The only moment when Mike Bell [...]
Quick Hitter: October 13th
Eytan Shander has today’s Quick Hitter and discusses Michael Vick’s health, the Eagles’ trade for Jerome Harrison and Kevin Kolb’s difficulties in connecting with DeSean Jackson.
Maybe It’s Always Shady in Philadelphia
For this week’s NFL Blog Blitz, I compared LeSean McCoy’s numbers through the first five games this year to those of his predecessor, Brian Westbrook. There’s a case to be made that McCoy is on track to be every bit as good as Brian Westbrook was in Philadelphia.

Eagles Pay the Price for West Coast Win
The Eagles held off the 49ers 27-24, escaping the West Coast with a much needed win but returning home with a few more injuries. Trent Cole (hamstring), DeSean Jackson (knee strain), Jason Peters (knee sprain), Quintin Mikell and Brodrick Bunkley (elbow hyper-extension) were among the Eagles who left the game at one point or another with injuries. Cole, Jackson and Mikell returned, but Peters and Bunkley did not. Peters and Bunkley are expected to undergo further examination on Monday. Cole and Mikell were not listed on the post-game injury report. Kevin Kolb and LeSean McCoy led the offensive effort, [...]
Eagles Hold Off 49ers, 27-24
The Eagles topped the 49ers 27-24, as Kevin Kolb and LeSean McCoy shined for the Birds offense. Kolb completed 21-of-31 passes for 253 yards and an 8-yard touchdown to Brent Celek, but did lose a fumble. LeSean McCoy ran for 92 yards on 18 carries, including a 29-yard touchdown run.
Eagles Lead 49ers 17-10 Heading to Fourth Quarter
After three quarters, the Eagles lead the 49ers 17-10 behind the strong play of Kevin Kolb, filling in for an injured Michael Vick. Kolb is 17-of-24 for 209 yards and an 8-yard touchdown to Brent Celek, but did lose a fumble. LeSean McCoy also has a 29-yard touchdown run.
