DeSean Jackson on Relationship With Reid: We're Good

DeSean Jackson has just four catches for 38 yards from Kevin Kolb this season. The duo hopes to change that against a stingy Falcons defense.

“Yeah, we good,” DeSean Jackson said when asked if he and head coach Andy Reid were on good terms after numerous reports said that Reid had singled Jackson out in front of the team after Sunday’s 31-26 loss in Chicago.

As for what Reid said? Jackson is following his coach’s M.O.

“I’m not here to talk about any of that,” Jackson said. “What we talk about in the locker room is between the team.

“We just want to win games, man, that’s what I’m here for: to go out there and be successful and win football games. As far as anything else, I could care less about it.”

Since opening the Monday Night Football game in Washington with an 88-yard touchdown catch, Jackson has just eight receptions for 86 yards in nearly three full games. The star wideout has also dropped two passes in the end zone in the last two games.

Jackson wouldn’t respond to a question about whether he wanted more passes thrown his way, but Reid did.

“Listen, man, I love that he loves the ball,” Reid said. “That’s what I love. Man, he wants it and he wants it now and he wants it in crunch time. There are a lot of guys that would climb under this table in crunch time. He wants the ball. I like it, it’s a beautiful thing. I’ll take care of everything else, man, I love that part.”

“It’s not about me, it’s about us winning the game,” Jackson said. “If we’re not winning games then myself doesn’t matter.

“I’m here to play football, have fun, go out there and win football games. That’s my job and that’s what I’m here to do. So as far as anything else, I could care less about anything else.”

Still, Jackson’s important numbers are down in a year in which he’s hoping to earn a big contract extension. He’s just fourth on the team with 35 receptions, second with 678 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns. Still, Jackson says his frustration is not about getting a new contract.

“That has nothing to do with anything,” Jackson said.

Jackson doesn’t expect any carryover from last week’s events either.

“We past that,” Jackson said. “We got a big game on Thurs, so we know we’re on to the next one.”
