The Eagles aren’t quite as healthy as they’d like going into their Wild Card round matchup with the Packers on Sunday. Middle linebacker Stewart Bradley (dislocated elbow), left guard Todd Herremans (calf) and right guard Max Jean-Gilles (ankle sprain) are all listed as questionable. Bradley and Herremans were limited in practice today, while Jean-Gilles was a non-participant. Asante Samuel was also limited today with his knee injury, but is listed as probable.
While Bradley was extremely optimistic earlier this week that he’d be able to play, head coach Andy Reid was more reserved today.
“Stewart Bradley practiced today in a limited role, just to see how he’d do taking people on and using that arm, so we’ll see how he does here, he made it through OK and we’ll see how he does,” Reid said. “I still think it’s a stretch for him to play but it was still good to get him back out there and get some work.”
Bradley wasn’t in the locker room while it was open to the media and was restricted in his practice reps. Herremans, meanwhile, didn’t seem too concerned about his calf injury after undergoing acupuncture treatment. Still, he wouldn’t say whether he’d play.
“You’ll have to ask the trainers and Coach Reid about that, I’ll be good though,” Herremans said.
Jean-Gilles was the only one of the bunch not to participate in practice today, and Nick Cole would likely be in line to take his starting spot. While some players can’t start on Sunday after missing a critical Friday practice, Reidsaid that isn’t an issue for Jean-Gilles.
“I’m not too worried about him knowing the offense and that, he’s been playing quite a bit,” Reid said.
While Samuel will almost definitely play Sunday, his being limited today after having full participation yesterday and Wednesday is cause for some concern over his knee. Reid claimed it was precautionary, though.
“I backed some guys off, some of the guys that had leg injuries before with the turf and that, they took limited reps but they’ll be ready to go,” Reid said.
The Eagles head coach does have a history of resting players with leg or knee injuries late in the week when the team is practicing inside on the turf, which they were today.
