There’s still time to cast your vote for Desean Jackson at tonight’s ESPY Awards.
Aside from being nominated with the rest of the team in the Best Game category, the most dangerous man in football is also up for Best Play for his miracle punt return in the final seconds of last year’s soul-crushing comeback over the New York Giants.
The award is purely based on fan votes, so if you haven’t already spare twenty seconds of your time and do your part. Go here and click on the “Vote for Best Play” button. You don’t have to sign up or anything.
I know. The ESPYs are a joke, even among award shows, and six months from now no one will even remember they happened. The winners will sell their trophies on EBay and the losers will hit on Maria Sharapova at the after-party. Ben Roethlisburger will drink a box of wine and spend the night harassing a cute little blond girl, then find out the next day she was actually Justin Beiber.
Life goes on, is my point. By Friday it’ll be back to the lockout, the worrying, the frustration.
But for tonight, and probably tomorrow morning, DJax winning this award would be pretty damn sweet. One more ounce of salt in the wound, another hysterical reminder of how epic that Giants loss really was. One more punchline to the joke.
“So, the Giants were up by 21 with less than eight minutes left. And they just collapsed. I mean…Jesus…it was the greatest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. They lost so badly that DJax actually got an award for it. He won an ESPY for just humiliating the Giants.”
One more time, Giants fans will have to remember. That, I think, is worth the ten seconds it takes to vote.
