New CBA: Not a Good Deal for the Rest of the World

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, News, NFL | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Roger Goodell is the type of person who would take a bunch of children into a candy store, allow them to peruse all the wonderful goods on display and then march them all out without letting them have anything. That’s my view of his character because, metaphorically, he’s done exactly that to the fans of American football throughout the world. At the start of the recently resolved CBA negotiations, a lot of things were put on the table that were clearly there to be removed as part of a deal. At least, that’s how I see it now, [...]

Desean, Starters Will Play First Half Vs. Steelers

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

The practice fields at Lehigh University are quiet now. The throngs of reporters and fans who came out to catch a glimpse of the new look Eagles have returned home to Philly, where the most hyped team in football is now gearing up for a nationally televised contest with the defending AFC champions. From now on, training camp will continue beneath the sealed dome of the NovaCare Complex, as coaches and players begin the dead serious final weeks of preparation for the 2011 season. Jobs will be won and lost. Leaders and stars will be born. And the [...]

Ravens at Eagles: What to Watch For

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, News, NFL | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The new-look Eagles have departed from Lehigh and will descend upon the Linc tomorrow night for the first live NFL action of the 2011 preseason. All the story lines and roster moves from this ridiculous, unprecedented offseason are about to become real. Joe Flacco will be throwing passes against Nnamdi Asomugma and Asante Samuel. Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown will be on opposing sidelines. Vince Young will tossing balls to Johnny Lee Higgins and 23 year old Alex Henery will be lining up for kickoffs. Am I ready for some football? Oh yeah. I’m ready. Before we get [...]

The Weirdest Season Ever Has Officially Begun

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well, here we are. After all the gloom and noise and worry, the longest offseason in the history of the NFL is over. The shortest preseason ever is officially underway. Live, professional NFL football will be on your TV or radio in three days. Three days. The Eagles (some of them, anyway) will be playing the Ravens Thursday night in what could be the most tense, nerve-wracking sixty minutes of my life. Every preseason game comes with some risk – we’re all aware of that by now – but this year is different. In a bad way. Those of [...]

Where the Eagles Stand Now

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Alright Eagles, stop playing with my heart. This is almost too much for me to handle. You know, this whole “filling every single need” thing. It’s really making me believe that you are all in this season and are making the best team possible. Now Ronnie Brown is an Eagle. The backup, power running back role has been filled. 6 foot 230 pound Brown has become the newest check mark on the list of team needs for the 2011 offseason. Although he has been oft injured in his 6-year career, he has also been a Pro Bowl caliber player and [...]

Eagles Acquire OT Ryan Harris From Broncos

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Former Denver OT Ryan Harris has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Eagles. The Broncos’ 2007 third-round pick out of Notre Dame, Harris started at right tackle for three seasons before dislocating his toes in November 2009 and being placed on IR. This, hopefully, is some sort of answer for our questions at RT, or at least an insurance policy against Danny Watkins’ truncated development. No numbers on the deal yet, but I’m assuming it won’t be a whole lot. We’ll tweet the deets when we get em (@insideiggles). Les Bowen has already pointed out [...]

Ronnie Brown, Eagles Agree to Terms on 1-Year Deal

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

The hits just keep on coming. Former first round draft pick (#2 overall) Ronnie Brown has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Eagles. The Birds, who have been looking for a veteran back-up to Shady ever since the lockout rendered Dion Lewis virtually useless as a third down back this season, get in Brown a versatile and strong but injury-prone tailback. In his 7th year out of Auburn, the 6’0″ 230 lb. feature back is an exceptional pass-catcher and well-versed in a number of different blocking schemes. He’s also been known to throw a decent [...]

Inside the Iggles Featured on The Pulse Network

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Eagles, News, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Yes. I’m a shameless media hound. I just wrapped up a pretty decent interview with Butch Stearns over at the Pulse Network for his show “Sports Buzz,” where we talked Nnamdi, Asante, DJax, Vince Young and even a little fantasy for about 15 minutes. You can check out the whole interview here, then proceed to make fun of me in the comments.
