This isn’t really an Eagles-related post, but it’s too good to pass up. Here’s a woman tailgating prior to a recent Phillies game. As she takes her light beer of choice to the face, two cops roll up on motorcycles and give her high-fives, of course. God, I love Philadelphia.

The Giants have been doing an awful lot of talking this week, particularly when you consider they have failed to beat the Eagles in their last six tries. I can hear the Giants fans chirping now. “Yo, but we’ve got three rings.” Enough with that. It’s easy to do, just count to three and do a switch-a-roo! That got weird, right? Anyway, the Eagles have shuffled their starting linebackers. Casey Matthews, after struggling through the season’s first two games, has been moved to the starting weakside linebacker spot. Jamar Chaney will take over, and Moises Fokou will man the strong-side. So much for Matthews’ quick maturation as the quarterback of a defensive unit on a team with Super Bowl aspirations. 1. Philadelphia Eagles (1-1): The Eagles let one slip away on Sunday night, but there were many positive aspects to consider despite the loss. The Eagles, for a second straight week, displayed a dynamic offense that produced big plays from several sources. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that although Michael Vick will still have to pass standard concussion tests, early indications are that the team believes Vick will be ready to go for Sunday’s critical early season showdown with the Giants. The Eagles will likely update Vick’s condiction at today’s press conference, so we’ll be back with more. If Vick plays, it could be bad news for the Giants’ blitz happy defense. It appears fantasy owners and Eagles fans aren’t the only ones waiting with baited breath for an update on the status of quarterback Michael Vick for Sunday’s NFC East showdown with the New York Giants. With the Giants holding a slim 7-6 lead in last night’s Monday night slopfest, Giants’ linebacker Michael Boley scooped up an ill-advised backwards pass from Rams’ quarterback Sam Bradford. Boley returned the fumble 65-yards for a touchdown. Cool. But check out what he did once he scored. My favorite part was his complete lack of acknowledgement that he, you know, threw a football from point blank range into a helpless man’s face. Classy stuff, Michael.

Throughout Andy Reid’s tenure, the Eagles defensive philosophy, through changing coordinators and personnel has always had one constant quality in that the unit is constructed to shine when it’s given a lead. Well, this pretty much explains it all.

You know, I’m not a real big fan of Falcons’ defensive back Dunta Robinson. He does this thing where he tends to launch his body, helmet first, into the helmets of helpless receivers. It’s unnecessary, it’s cheap, and it’s dirty. And before you give me that “toughen up, people in the NFL are too soft today” crap, just know that I think many of the NFL rule changes are weak. Still, there is never any reason to purposely go helmet to helmet with a receiver over the middle. That’s not intimidation, that’s not protecting a zone–that’s assault. And Mr. Robinson [...]

With Michael Vick likely questionable for Sunday’s home opener against the Giants (personally, I believe there’s no chance in Hell he plays), the hot topic this week will inevitably be the Kevin Kolb trade. Given Vick’s pension for getting hurt, should the Eagles have hung onto Kevin Kolb as an insurance policy?
