On the heels of a 34-7 ass-kicking of the Cowboys last night (what up, Rob Ryan?), the Eagles have been installed as a seven-point favorite over the Chicago Bears for next Monday night’s showdown. The total has opened around 47. Oh. You were looking for some analysis of what this means or explanation of who I would take? Sorry. You’ll have to come back later this week for that.

Funny how all those national media outlets that cracked those lame, uninspired and unoriginal “dream team…more like a nightmare team!” jokes are now sweating the Eagles’ collective nutsac. Let’s take a look at what some of the more popular Internet sports sites had to say this morning, shall we?

After Week 7, the Eagles, according to playoffstatus.com, had 19 percent chance of qualifying for postseason play. Their mathematical formula gave the Eagles a 13 percent chance of winning the division and a six percent chance of winning one of the two NFC Wild Card spots. After last night’s revitalizing victory against Dallas, the Eagles are now a bit more than a long shot to qualify for the playoffs. The Eagles were nearly perfect during the first half of last night’s good ole’ fashioned ass kicking. One of their few gaffes came when center Jayson Kelce though Michael Vick was lined up behind center, not in shotgun as he actually was. The result? Kelce jamming the football into his rear-end.

You already know by now that the Eagles destroyed the Cowboys, 34-7, in a must-win game that vaulted the Eagles into second place in the NFC East and right back into the thick of the NFC Playoff race. It was a game the Eagles had to have, and they played like it was, as Andy Reid improved his record to 13-0 after the bye week. Games of this magnitude come down to the play of two specific players: the quarterbacks of each team. For the Eagles and Michael Vick, this game marks what could be the start of potentially remarkable turnaround, or the death of the 2011 season. It’s going to be up to Vick to make sure it’s the former. Vick has played well at times, struggled others, and overall has not been the player he was last season. Eagles’ quarterback Michael Vick is now the proud owner of a six-inch bird. Haha. Should I do an electrocution/bird joke here? Nah. I’ll pass. According to a Philly.com report, Michael Vick and his fiancee picked out a baby parrot for her daughters at Todd Marcus Exotic Birds Inc. in Delran. The bird’s name is Rio. He paid $1,100 dollars for it. Awesome. And before you ask, Vick’s probation prohibits him from owning dogs, but there are no restrictions against other pets.
