Good news everybody–the Eagles will finally get a recent first-round choice on the field.
Geoff Mosher of the Wilmington News-Journal reports that everyone’s favorite Canadian fire fighter, Danny Watkins, will get his first NFL start on Sunday when the Eagles travel to Buffalo, in place of Kyle DeVan.
DeVan, a former Howard Mudd disciple in Indianapolis, was signed by the Eagles just prior to the start of the regular season when it became apparent that Watkins wasn’t ready for a starting role on a “championship caliber” team.
Of course, this move might say more about DeVan’s inability to generate a push, and his terrible game against San Francisco than Watkins’ readiness to start.
Still, if you’re Andy Reid, it makes sense to start Watkins and let him take his lumps as your season spins out of control than watch a never-was like DeVan get thrown all over the field.
