Last night, I gave a quick breakdown of why the Eagles have been installed as a 2.5 point favorite in tomorrow night’s matchup with the Seahawks. I wanted to run some numbers and further evaluate the situation in order to bring you the most informed advice possible about how to bet tomorrow night’s game. And if you’re an Eagles fan or just a degenerate itching to bet on the Eagles, well, you’re about to be disappointed. Both teams enter the game without key players and with subpar 4-7 records. Vince Young will make his third-straight start and will likely again [...]
NFC East Power Rankings: Week 13
The idea of power rankings has always been a bit silly. Check the standings–they tell you all you really need to know. But the NFL is such a capricious league. One week a team can look like they are ready to circle the wagons and rally for a division title, the next week a couple of nude people jump out of your bathroom blindfolded like a goddamn magic show ready to double team your girlfriend. What I mean is this is a league of highs and lows and a team’s fortunes can turn on a dime. Go back and look [...]
Vegas Installs Eagles as 2.5 Point Favorites
Well, Vegas took their sweet ass time opening up the betting lines to the general public, but with just a bit more than 48 hours to go prior to Thursday night’s game between the Seahawks and Eagles we finally have a line. Drum roll… The Eagles have been installed as 2.5 point favorites. It’s an interesting line, and it’s about what I expected. This much we know: the Eagles aren’t a good football team. They’re a supposedly talented bunch, but that has simply not translated into wins this season. Despite their well-documented troubles, the public wants to bet on the [...]
Editor’s note: Steve Fini breaks down the five players most critical to New England’s lopsided bludgeoning of the Eagles last Sunday. Tom Brady (NE/QB) – I know he’s getting older and he just pummeled your favorite team in a big game, so, you probably don’t want to hear my about my man crush on Brady. But as a true football fan you have to respect what this man can do. We know by now he was an afterthought coming out of Michigan and that he’s been the one of the game’s premiere quarterbacks over the past decade. But we got [...]
*As if it matters, Vince Young will get his third start of the season on Thursday night when the Eagles (4-7) head west to take on the Seahawks. Splendid. With their playoffs hopes all but dead, there really is no reason to rush Michael Vick back on to the field, given that it’s become increasingly apparent the rib injury he suffered against Arizona three weeks ago was much more than a “day to day” situation that the team initially deemed it as. Trotting out a vulnerable Vick to face an improving young Seattle defense on a short week at CenturyLink [...]

Eagles Embarrassed at Home (AGAIN)
If you are looking to define the term ineptitude, simply watch a replay of the Patriots – Eagles game from yesterday; and least the Philadelphia parts of the game. The same problems that have been plaguing the Eagles all season reared their ugly head again, this time against a vastly superior opponent … and it showed. The first drive of the game was great for Philly, with Riley Cooper catching a bomb down the middle of the field and the Eagles jumping out to a quick 7-0 lead. The defense was able to get pressure on Tom Brady, harassing him [...]
Andy Reid Will Not Be Fired
In the wake of yesterday’s 38-20 drubbing at the hands of the New England Patriots, fans flocked to the airwaves to call for Andy Reid’s head. Columnists and scribes wrote their usual pieces, wondering aloud if this newest low point for Andy Reid’s 4-7 team will be the final embarrassing blow that will lead to his departure. Same old, same old. But wait. About 2,000 fans began chanting “Fire Andy” from the stands after the Eagles missed on a fourth and goal opportunity in the third quarter. For whatever reason, those chants have reignited speculation over Reid’s future in Philadelphia. [...]
Reports: Nnamdi Asomugha Will Play Vs. Patriots
Headline says it all. Nnamdi Asomugha, who suffered a scary left knee injury during Thursday’s practice, will be active and is expected to start today against the Patriots. Just how effective and durable Asomugha will be is unknown at this point, but this a bit of good news just hours before the Eagles try to save their season against New England.
Eagles-Patriots Gameday Predictions
Predictions: Steve Fini: I picked the Eagles to lose last week and they won. I’m picking them to lose again this week so that maybe it will happen again. I don’t think the Patriots are great this season, but they do have great players. I fully expect Tom Brady to completely confuse Eagles defensive coordinator Juan Castillo and have early success. I also think that Aaron Hernandez or Rob Gronkowski might set the record for receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in a game by a pair of tight ends by day’s end. Eagles go down hard and we all [...]
Five Players to Watch: Eagles-Patriots
Trent Cole (DE/Eagles) – Pressure is going to be key in this game. Allowing Tom Brady to sit in the pocket and choose where he wants to go is a death sentence for a defense. He has great awareness and can put the football anywhere, especially if he sees the pressure. Cole will coming from Brady’s blindside so he won’t be able to just throw the ball away or dump it off if Cole can get there in time. He wasn’t great against the Giants last week and still may be nursing some injuries but Cole needs to step up [...]
