Editor’s note: Below, we offer our staff picks for today’s game between the Cardinals and Eagles.
Steve Fini: The Eagles have let teams with inferior talent come in and upset them several times this season. But the Cardinals are one of the worst teams in the league. This isn’t a plucky Bears team or a motivated Giants team. This is the Arizona Cardinals. With a backup quarterback.
They do have some players at positions that would look nice in Eagles jerseys, and possibly the best receiver in the league. But Arizona’s defense is unimpressive and their offensive line is atrocious. How they have two wins I don’t know, but this week should not be their third. Eagles win big and keep the second-round pick they own from Arizona in next year’s draft a HIGH second rounder: Eagles 35, Cardinals 14.
Bob Wankel: How the Eagles are a two-touchdown favorite is beyond me. It makes no sense. The Eagles are 0-3 outright in games when they are favored by eight or more points. They are a grossly underachieving team–a heartless, gutless and downright stupid bunch. Former Arizona cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is throwing temper tantrums, Asante Samuel doesn’t look like he has much in the groin-region to lacerate (see last week’s injury report) and DeSean Jackson is out today after missing a team meeting.
This is a totally unfocused bunch that realizes it has not only failed to meet great expectations, but has also likely blown their last chance to do so. I see a sluggish, sloppy, lackluster performance by the Eagles that nets a win. Not because I think the Eagles will find their stride, but because Arizona is just that bad. Eagles 27, Cardinals 20.
