Jason Babin is excited that Jim Washburn will be back in Philadelphia next season. And so will the much maligned wide-nine defensive front.
Although the Eagles posted 50 sacks last year, their defense was woeful in the red zone and susceptible to allowing huge plays in critical spots.
But Babin, for one, expects next season to be different.
“The last few games, people were like, ‘Where was this defense?’ It was the same defense, it just took a little while to click,” Babin said.
“The biggest thing now is to create that cohesion during the offseason,” he said. “We were really playing for one another. You could see it on the field. It showed up, obviously, in the ‘W’ category.”
One could argue, of course, that those wins were seemingly meaningless and that their late season run will have no impact on the 2012 season. But we haven’t had that debate yet, have we?
