Tragic news coming out of Eagles training camp today, as GM Howie Roseman held a press conference after the morning session of practice to drop the bombshell that Andy Reid’s eldest son, Garrett Reid, had been found dead in his Lehigh dorm room this morning. With the drug issues Garrett battled in the past, a drug overdose was one of the first things that came to mind, but there were no signs of foul play according to Lehigh University police chief Ed Shupp. There was no cause of death given. Reid was just 29 years old. Coach Reid was not at practice this morning and will not be there in the afternoon. There have been no announcements regarding Reid’s future with the team or how long his leave of absence will be, if he takes one at all. However, concerns about how this will affect the football team are secondary right now to concerns about Reid and his family. Here at Inside the Iggles, we wish Coach Reid and his family the best in these difficult and trying times.
