The Eagles released ten players late Saturday afternoon, trimming their roster to 80 players. Although none of the cuts are surprising, the most notable was that of former Philadelphia Soul standout wide receiver Tiger Jones. Jones left the Soul prior to the AFL squad’s deep postseason push as he tried to chase down his NFL dreams. But it wasn’t meant to be.
Jones was cut along with WR Elvis Akpla, S Wade Bonner, DE Xavier Brown, WR Brian Hernandez, WR Wade Jacobson, G Alfred McCullough, S Tom Nelson, CB Kevin Thomas, and OT Thomas Welch.
The team must cut five more players before Monday’s 4 PM deadline. Those cuts are expected to be a bit more difficult.
