Mike Vick and the Eagles might be down, but they sure aren’t out. Sitting at 3-5, feeling like a Volkswagen has ran over the season, the Dallas Cowboys come into town. If there were ever a game to turn the whole thing around, this is it. There are no more excuses. Dallas isn’t 8-0, and the game isn’t in the Superdome vs Drew Brees. It’s time for Andy Reid to pull his head out of the sand, (or wherever else it’s been), and get this team back on track.
Success in today’s game starts with play calling. Andy’s game plan will be tailored to fit the pieces in place. First, we will RUN THE BALL! Nothing stops the relentless swarm of blitzing than a solid ground game. Shady is more than up for the job. Second, Andy’s going to dust off all those old B-West short screens. If they want to bring everyone after Vick, we’re going to toss it over them and run wild.
All of this will slow down the pressure. The O-line will respond with renewed confidence and fire. When #7 drops back, with time to survey the field and let the play develop, that’s when DeSean and Jeremy break the big plays. The middle of the field opens up for Celek and Avant. Which, in turn gives Shady more room to roam. A re-energized offense feeds a defense that is begging for something to play for.
So this is my “Pollyanna” outlook leading into this game and the rest of the season. Excuse me for being optimistic. I refuse to believe that this team is finished.
“It ain’t over yet, McGavin. The way i see it….we’ve only just begun.”
