Former Eagles head coach Andy Reid met with players and various members of the organization this morning in what was described as an emotional goodbye. Players gave Reid a standing ovation and tears flowed from the eyes of many in the room. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, who will speak to the media at 1 p.m., presented Reid with a symbolic game ball at the meeting which was held in the team’s cafeteria shortly after 10 a.m. this morning.

Some view the moves as disingenuous, but there is little doubt that Lurie and Reid have a deep concern and mutual respect for one another. Surely, the decision to move on from Reid had to be a difficult one for an owner who watched his franchise blossom into one of the NFL’s top organizations under Reid’s watch.
