Eagles To Interview Kelly, But Not Necessarily A Top Target

It’s been long speculated that Oregon head coach Chip Kelly has been on the Eagles’ radar in the team’s search for its next head coach.

That speculation has now been confirmed. The Eagles, according to multiple sources, will interview Kelly this weekend after his team takes on Kansas State in Thursday Night’s Fiesta Bowl.

Adding to the intrigue is that the Cleveland Brows, Joe Banner’s Cleveland Browns, will also sit down with Kelly to vie for his services. It’s the dream showdown between Howie Roseman and Joe Banner. Wonder if the two will dish out some dirt one another to the prospective head coach. To be a fly on the wall during those meetings.

Still, while the Eagles are certainly more than simply interested in Kelly, it doesn’t necessarily mean the team has identified the 49-year-old coach as their top target. With confirmed interest in Syracuse’s Doug Marrone, Penn State’s Bill O’Brien, and the Falcons’ Mike Nolan and Keith Armstrong, it appears the Eagles are only beginning what will be a thorough, but rapid process.
