Even though we are in a slow portion of the offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles continue their hard work to improve a team that went a mere 4-12 a year ago.
It was announced earlier this week that the Eagles hired former Philadelphia Soul coach Bret Munsey as their new college scout for the Mid-Atlantic region. Munsey was the Soul’s coach from 2006-08.
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman had very kind words about Munsey during an interview with the Philadelphia Enquirer.
Knowing how well he worked with Jaws was certainly a plus. His success as a coach demonstrates his feel for the game and with his background in personnel, he’s certainly not starting from scratch.
Maclin is also anxious for the season to begin, although he’s in a different situation than McCoy. It’s a contract year for Maclin. There have been preliminary discussions about a new deal, but he thinks his stock can only ascend. The 2009 first-round pick has been a steady contributor for the Eagles, but has not yet recorded a 1,000-yard season. He said he wants to stay with the Eagles and his contract status will not be a distraction this season.
