That’s right. Nobody is giving the Eagles a chance this Sunday when they travel to Denver to face the Broncos. The high altitude along with Peyton Manning and that porous defense has apparently convinced every football expert out there that the Eagles can’t win on Sunday, but you know what I say…
Nevermind. I can’t talk myself into it. ESPN, CBS, FOX, Inside the NFL, SI.com, they all have the Broncos in this game–and for good reason. I think the Eagles are poised for a bounceback in the coming weeks with games against Tampa Bay, New York, and Dallas approaching, but as for this week the only place you’re going to find someone predicting an Eagles win outside of their locker room is on a message board somewhere. And I can’t blame ‘em.
I see Peyton Manning doing to the Eagles preciselywhat he’s done to the rest of the league over for the first three weeks. The Eagles will move the ball once again, but have been predisposed to costly mistakes against better defenses in tough situations. The Broncos, while dominant, are a better defense and this is a tough situation, so I expect more of the same. This has the feel of a game where the Eagles lose handedly, but also one, much like the last two weeks, where you’ll be saying to yourself, “If only they made that play, or didn’t get this penalty, or…”
As it is, I’ll take Denver by a 38-24 score.
