Hugh Douglas hit headlines yet again. Just like last month, it is not for good reasons at all. Only a little over a month ago, Douglas was fired from ESPN after calling his co-host Michael Smith an “Uncle Tom” while drunk during the National Association of Black Journalists convention in Orlando, Florida.
Now he has been charged with attacking a woman at a hotel in Hartford, Connecticut. He has been living up to his “Fear the Fro” reputation even off of the field. Although he has shed the big hair, his aggressive personality is still alive and kicking. Well, choking might be the more appropriate word.
Douglas allegedly brutally attacked a woman at the Marriot hotel of Adriean’s Landing in Hartford. The court reports state that Douglas “grabbed the woman by the neck” and “slammed her into the walls”.
He emphatically claims that the woman sustained these injuries during “rough sex” that they had while staying in the hotel together. However, he was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree strangulation.
Get it together Hugh! Don’t let stupid off the field antics ruin a great 10 seasons that you had in the NFL. These incidents are not going to get you any closer to getting back on TV and they definitely won’t gain you any more fans. Not all publicity is good publicity. No matter what anyone says.
And we don’t feel sorry for you. The fans of Philadelphia deserve to be represented better than this, especially considering their already tarnished reputation. Even though you no longer play for the Eagles, you will always be remembered as one. The city of Philadelphia gave Hugh Douglas tons of support and praise while he was fighting in the trenches for the Eagles. Stop letting us down. We can’t handle any more let downs.
