During a recent interview with Philadelphiaeagles.com current ESPN Analyst and Former Philadelphia Eagles Corner Back was asked to give some thoughts on Philadelphia Eagles’ Head Coach Chip Kelly. Being a former coach and player himself, he offered us his thoughts.

I think he’s been consistent. And that’s the message any player wants to have. He wants consistency in his head coach. Especially when times go a little tough. They had some bumps but I think coach (Kelly) stayed very consistent, he believes in his philosophy, the players are buying into it.

You can see the evidence of what Edwards is saying on the field today. The Eagles have already won 50% more games this year by week 12 than they did all last season. There was very little player turnover this year yet the success and the game-play overall is markedly improved. No disrespect towards Former Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Andy Reid but the only glaring change is the head coach position.

Edwards went on about Kelly,

…what the players want to make sure that they are getting is that the coach is putting them in position to have success. It’s not so much about your system but it’s about how much you will adjust your system to match the talent that you have. I think Coach has been able to do that. You’ve seen that alone with just the Quarterback position. I mean he’s had to play with 2, 3 quarterbacks. That’s very difficult. But the players see that coach is doing what he has to do to make these guys comfortable, to make the offense work. I think that’s what he’s brought to the table and that’s a good thing.

Having been a player and a head coach Herman Edwards has a unique perspective when he looks at Chip Kelly. The proof of what Edwards is saying is evident on the field. Could this be the beginning of a long a beautiful relationship? Sound off below and give us your thoughts.
