According to an article posted on NFL’s website earlier today, Arizona Cardinals’ Head Coach Bruce Arians is trying to stir the pot a little before the game between the Arizona Cardinals and the Philadelphia Eagles. He called Philadelphia Eagle’s Head Coach Chip Kelly’s ‘read-option offense a great ‘college offense.’ Sounds like he is tyring to get into Kelly’s head. Or at the least trying to be a little offensive.

Chip Kelly of course responded.

I don’t care what other people think,… If I did, I would be valuing their opinion over my own.

That’s a pretty standard response actually. But two things about this are true. Kelly’s offense is for the most part a college offense. And if Kelly did worry about what people thought, he wouldn’t run it. But up to this point it has worked well for him.

Kelly continued trying to clear up a misconception about his style of offense.

I don’t think it’s an offense, I think its a play. And we don’t run read option if you want to get really technical. We run a zone-read play every once and a while… It’s just like saying our offense is a power offense because we run the power play.

Not sure what Arians motivation was. Maybe he was trying to throw Kelly off his game plan. Kind of a childish move but if he is nervous to face the Eagles maybe he felt that was his only play.
