This week’s update to the FanSided.com mock draft has a new name linked to the Philadelphia Eagles’ pick. Previously TCU’s Corneback Jason Verrit was on the list. Josh Sanchez’s update has the Eagles going with Oregon Ducks’ corner back Ifo Ekpre-Olomu. Sanchez explains:
The Philadelphia Eagles defense is one of their biggest weaknesses, so they should spend their early pick looking to bolster the dreadful secondary.
Luckily for them, it looks like corner backs could slide to the later half of the first-round in this year’s draft and Ifo Ekpre-Olomu of Oregon falls right into their laps.
It isn’t a mystery the Eagles Secondary has been weak this year. However, in the past few games Philadelphia Eagles corner backs Cary Williams and Brandon Boykin are showing promise. Along with Philadelphia Eagles Safety Nate Allen, the secondary is starting to make plays. But the Eagles’ need for a pass rusher should trump the need for another member on the secondary.
Missouri Tiger’s Defensive End Michael Sam has been a breakout performer this season with 10 sacks. He also has 34 tackles with 16 tackles for a loss, one forced fumble and one pass broken up. Sam returned a fumble for a touchdown in the Tigers’ upset win over Georgia. He dominated with three-sack games against Arkansas State, Vanderbilt and Florida. This is the type of production the Eagles need on the Defensive Line.
