Sunday’s game was hard to watch for a lot of Philadelphia Eagles fans. They had been on a roll the past six weeks but today they hit a speed bump. Until late in the game The Eagles did not look they were even competitive in the game. That was probably a result of the Minnesota Vikings playing a prevent defense which the last two quarters or so. Next week the Birds host the surging Chicago Bears. If the problems of today are not addressed this week it could be another very long game.
Here is my take.
That was a tough loss. To me, it looked like the Eagles’ underestimated the Minnesota Vikings. At least the Dallas Cowboys lost as well. All is not lost though. Today served as a wake up call. For most of the year the defense, especially the secondary, has improved week after week. Minnesota’s passing game exposed some huge weaknesses. Technically we can afford the loss because the Cowboys lost. If recent history has proved anything it’s that Philadelphia Eagles’ Head Coach Chip Kelly will attack these weaknesses with a vengeance. I am not too concerned. It is much better to get exposed now so they can be fixed. These are not the lessons the Eagles want to learn in the playoffs.
