Deploy the Tight Ends

Eagles’ tight ends Brent Celek and Zach Ertz are arguably the best TE tandem in the NFL.  The massive players each register over 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing more than 250 pounds.  The Eagles as a team run the screen more effectively than any other team, and both Ertz and Celek have a lot to do with that.

During the second quarter of the week 13 Arizona Cardinals game, the Eagles ran a short screen play to wide receiver DeSean Jackson.  Jackson motioned left, then shuffled right and grabbed the pass along the line of scrimmage taking it for a 14 yard gain up the right sideline.  The running lane that Celek and Ertz created for Jackson during that play was big enough to drive a truck through, and was executed flawlessly.

In addition to being superior blockers along the line and in space, the Eagles tight ends are receiving threats as well.  Celek and Ertz each has 400+ yards receiving on the season with 9 combined touchdowns.  The Cowboys have struggled mightily with big, physical pass catchers this year, and the Eagles duo may be too much for Dallas to handle.
