Eagles LeSean McCoy Breaks Wilbert Montgomery’s Rushing Record

Dec 29, 2013; Arlington, TX, USA; Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy (25) runs with the ball in the first quarter against the Dallas Cowboys at AT

Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy just broke former Philadelphia Eagles running back Wilbert Montgomery’s single season rushing record set back in 1979 at 1,512. McCoy entered the game with 1,476 rushing yards this season and only needed 36 yards to tie the record. At halftime, McCoy had 51 yards and promises many more in the second half. With a pass-happy league who knows when this record will fall.

LeSean McCoy has also secured the NFL rushing title this season as well. No other running backs have rushed for over 1,400 yards this season. McCoy is a young man and could be a tremendous asset for the Philadelphia Eagles in the coming years. It would be nice to have McCoy break the rushing record, win the NFL rushing title AND be the MVP in Super Bowl 48 all in the same year. I know, it is a stretch but a fan can dream…
