Kendricks, Kendricks, Kendricks, is a name that is being tossed around left and right this season. Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks has been getting a lot of attention this season due to having a very good season and most recently pop singer Rihanna. (Ms. RiRi finds him attractive, end of story.) The 23-year old second round draft pick from the University of California, has been making a name for himself every since he joined the Eagles.
Kendricks being one of the most athletic and quick linebackers on the defensive line, was number three on the sacks list with 58 tackles and 17 assisted tackles in his rookie year. This year he topped that number with 105 tackles and a record high of ten tackles in one game against the Washington Redskins in 2013.
Playing football obviously runs in Kendricks blood due to his father and three brothers playing football as well. Before Kendricks was drafted to the Eagles his father, Marv Kendricks, was the name on the Eagles training camp roster. Kendricks recalls performance always seeing Eagles displayed through the house due to his father’s love for the team. His father is the one that stays on Mychal about his performance and execution whether he wants to hear it or not. Kendricks father has been his biggest critique since high school. His father said, “I critiqued everything, and if I saw something I didn’t like I would pass it along.”
Next season Kendricks is expected to bring the heat even more with more sacks and forced turnovers. Now that he has gained more experience on the pro level. It looks like Kendricks is on his way of becoming the next Trent Cole if not better, if he keeps playing like this. Kendricks is one Eagle that’s expected to fly the Philly skies for a long time.
