Two-time Pro-Bowler, Desean Jackson, was robbed of $325,000 in cash and jewelry as well a semi-automatic handgun last week, according to police reports. Jackson’s South Philadelphia residence is believed to have been ransacked between Monday and Friday of last week while Jackson was away.
The Philly wideout was in Miami from Monday through Friday, something that he made very apparent on his twitter account. Jackson tweeted photos of himself and his friends en route to Miami within hours of Philadelphia cleaning out their lockers after their playoff loss against the Saints.
Wednesday, Jackson posted pictures of him and former Oregon running back De’Anthony Thomas, who recently declared to forgo his senior season and enter the NFL draft, at a club event in Miami Beach.
Just two days later, Jackson tweeted another picture with a group of people promoting a new HBO series produced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Mark Wahlberg called “Ballers”. Dwayne Johnson and Atlanta Falcons running back Steven Jackson were among those featured in the photo.
It was Jackson’s mother who reported the burglary when she returned to the residence early Saturday morning, January 11th. She became suspicious after seeing a second floor door open that should have been locked. It was upon entering the second floor bedroom that she realized the room had been looted.
Police reports state that there was no sign of forced entry and that the various security cameras outside of the Jackson residence were disabled. This allowed for the perpetrators to steal a safe containing $250,000 dollars in cash and $125,000 in jewelry. A silver 9mm handgun was also reported missing.
Jackson took to Twitter Saturday to comment on the recent events, seeming to be in good spirits.
The things they do 4 a lil paper !! Keep a smile on my face God Plan 4 me bigger then that !! Know that
Desean is currently offering a $50,000 dollar reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction for the party/parties connected in the robbery.
This is the second time in less than a week that Desean has hit the headlines. Last Monday, Jackson told several reporters that he deserves more money for his recent performance on the field and wants to renegotiate his contract.
Jackson just finished the second year of a five-year deal and is set to receive 10.5 million in 2014.
