As you know Superbowl XVIII takes place today, but unfortunately the Philadelphia Eagles will not be playing. Since we won’t be seeing the Eagles fly to victory today, I decided to press rewind and discuss the times when the Eagles played in the Superbowl.

On January 25, 1981, the Eagles made their first Superbowl appearance against the Oakland Raiders in Superbowl XV. The Superbowl was held at the then Louisiana Superdome, now called the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA. At this time  the head coach for the Eagles was Dick Vermeil and Ron Jaworski as the quarterback. The Raiders basically trampled over the Eagles in this game. Jaworski’s first pass of the game was intercepted leading the team off to a bad start in the game. The Eagles scored a field goal in the second quarter and a touchdown in the fourth quarter, giving them a final score of 10 points against the Raiders 27 points. At the end of the game Jaworski only completed 250 yards out of 461 attempted passes.
