However, there is the perception that the Eagles might have missed a good chance to make it to the NFL’s biggest game.

The Birds had a 4-1 record in December and they were one of the hottest teams in the league. The  Saints did not inspire fear as a visiting team in the Wildcard round and if the Birds managed to win this game, they would travel to Charlotte for a game against the Carolina Panthers.

The road to the NFC Championship Game wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t impassable either. The Seattle Seahawks would be the best team the Eagles would have faced all season, but in the playoffs anything can happen.

Unfortunately, the Eagles went one-and-out and we never got to see what would have happened in the next rounds of the playoffs. But if Philadelphia can build on their 2013 success, is it possible for them to represent the NFC in Super Bowl XLIX,  363 days from now?

It is very early for predictions and I don’t want to look like an overly optimistic person, but the Birds might be closer than we think. Take a look at the Seahawks. They were a 7-9 team in 2010 and 2011, but they did an excellent job in the 2011 and 2012 drafts. Two years later, they are the Super Bowl winners.
