In some aspects this is my favorite time of year. With Free Agency around the corner and the NFL Draft just beyond that there is nothing but speculation, wonder and hope in the air. With the season the Philadelphia Eagles had many can sense they are just a couple of players away from a serious run for the Super Bowl. From now until the first game of the 2014 it will feel like Christmas. “Is this the year we get the present we have always wanted?” The anticipation and excitement is palpable.

Phil Sheridan with ESPN.com reported today that Minnesota Vikings Matt Cassel is opting out of his contract and to test the waters of Free Agency. That would leave Christian Ponder as their only quarterback for the 2014 season. He said that could open the door for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick. The Vikings have the eighth pick in the draft and are in desperate need of a good quarterback. But at number eight the pickings may be slim. However, they could still pick up a not-quite-ready quarterback in the draft and have him train under a veteran for a year.
