This off-season is shaping up to be very entertaining. Speculation is swirling over Philadelphia Eagles wide receivers Jeremy Maclin and Riley Cooper. If the Eagles are somehow unable to secure one or both of these receivers then they may need to pick one up in the first round. In some cases good defensive players have been around in later rounds so in theory they could get a good pass rusher in the second or third round. I happen to think they may be able to keep both receivers because they are well under the cap.

As you know, I have always maintained the Eagles need a great pass rusher that would compliment their defense. Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Trent Cole has been with the Birds for 12 seasons and led the team in sacks with eight. That my fellow Eagles fans is an anemic stat. We need more sacks to be completely effective on defense. Cole at age 32 is on the tail end of his storied career but would be the perfect mentor for the right inside or outside linebacker if the Eagles can get one.

But in my newest post-Super Bowl mock draft, facilitated through the Mock Draft Simulator at Fanspeak.com, I let the simulator choose the Eagles first pick. I wasn’t surprised but wanted to let you know I did not choose the player. He was the first available player on the list.

This is the most retarded mock draft ever

Please explain. I am curious to hear your thoughts.

Firstly, the Houston Texans take Carr’s little brother? Talk about awkward. Greg Robinson is a top 10 pick; the Eagles skip over Clinton Dix and Calvin Pryor…for an ILB? DeMeco and Kendricks are the starters; the Cleveland Browns pass on Johnny Manziel?; Anthony Barr will not be drafted by a 4-3 team ….look at Dion Jordan’s failure in Miami. Need I go on ?

Greg Robinson and Johnny Manziel will NOT make it out of the top ten, period. Also, Derek Carr’s stock continues to fall and is projected as a 3rd to 4th round selection. Not sure how having him go 1 overall makes sense.

The chances of the Packers taking an OT for their #1 pick are non-existant. Their defense was one of the worst in football and they get their starting LT back from injury. To waste a pick on a guy who won’t start for at least two more years is ludicrous. Safety-ILB-DT. One of those three spots will be their 1 and 2 picks.
