Round 2, No. 54

Kyle Van Noy, OLB, BYU

Many people think that former BYU Cougar Kyle Van Noy will be off the boards at this point, but a question about his athleticism could cause him to slip to the Eagles in round 2.  Even though Van Noy lacks elite athleticism, he more than makes up for it with his elite instincts.  Van Noy is constantly around the ball and can be utilized as both a pass rusher (see 2012) and a coverage linebacker (see 2013).  I would put his instincts on par with last year’s third round pick of the Arizona Cardinals, Tyrann Matthieu.  His experience and versatility as both a pass rusher and a coverage linebacker would make him a fantastic pick in the second round and a great fit for the Eagles.

Alternatives:  DaQuan Jones, DT, Penn St. or Deone Bucannon, S, Washington St.
