Vick Era In Philadelphia Has Come To An End

Moments ago NFL Analyst Adam Shefter reported that the New York Jets have signed free agent quarterback Michael Vick.

This isn’t a big surprise to many. Vick wants a starting job and he will probably earn it with the Jets. He has a better chance becoming a starter with the Jets than with the Eagles. The Jets have had quarterback troubles since they drafted quarterback Mark Sanchez. Last year, Jets quarterback Geno Smith had an up and down year. At best Smith could use the tutelage of Vick to help him hone his skill. At worst, he could lose the starting job to Vick next season.

As we look back over Vick’s career with the Eagles I want to point something out about Vick, the man not his skill. He came to the Eagles an ex-con, a felon and an unpolished man with a load of baggage. He was harangued and hated by many. He still is actually but he did not respond in kind. In a sense he became a man while he was here. Love him or hate him, he is a changed man. That fact cannot be refuted. He was all class as he lost his starting position to Eagles quarterback Nick Foles. Vick cheered him on as he excelled as the leader of the squad. Michael Vick is all class.

I personally wish him well and hope he leads the Jets to victory both times he plays the New England Patriots next year.
