Old NFL players don’t fade away, they just get arrested.
The hits just keep on coming. Last week we learned that NFL analyst and former quarterback Donovan McNabb was arrested for DUI. Now, former NFL wide receiver and current ESPN Analyst Keyshawn Johnson was arrested for misdemeanor domestic battery at 12:48 Monday morning. The arrest took occurred at Johnson’s home in Los Angeles County.
This isn’t much of a surprise, really. Back in his NFL days he was considered “passionate” about the sport. This is a nice word for hothead. His skill-set was impressive but his behaviors on the sideline and on the field were less than professional.
Last summer Johnson was quoted saying that pop singer Justin Bieber was a menace to his neighborhood after being arrested for speeding and driving while intoxicated near Johnson’s home. I guess the hypocrisy of this moment never occurred to Johnson.
Yet another “Come On, Man,” moment in the NFL. Johnson never played for the Eagles but he is known throughout the NFL as an analyst now and a previous wide receiver.
When are current and previous NFL stars going to learn they are not above the law? They need to learn to control themselves in a professional manner. After all, they are representatives of the National Football League, a “professional” sport.
Keyshawn Johnson, Come on, Man. Control yourself.
