The Philadelphia Eagles’ first round moves were unexpected and their first pick seemed to come out of left field. Louisville Cardinals defensive end Marcus Smith is an interesting pick for the Eagles. Auburn Tigers defensive end Dee Ford is a much better prospect than him. I am not crying foul because “my guy” wasn’t selected but to compare both of these men and Ford comes out on top every single time. Here is Smiths NFL Scouting Report.

I am not happy about this pick. However, I am not the general manager or head coach. I did not see Smith’s workout nor have I talked to him. But I do not get this selection. The Eagles could have easily traded out of the first round for another pick, (or two) and picked this guy up in the late second round or third.

Not sure it was the best move for the Eagles.

    I would give the eagles an F for the first round. They blew it big time with this pick.

    The guy had 13.5 sacks for the cards last year … He’ll be coached up but I might have gone with Trent Murphy out of Stanford or even addressed WR with the under appreciated Jordan Matthews out of Vandy. The potential for the extra yr on the contract is a huge incentive for teams to stay in rd 1 but trading out may have been the ultimate move here for a team with
