Marcus Smith OLB Louisville 26th overall

The Philadelphia Eagles originally owned the 22nd pick overall, but traded down with the Cleveland Browns. In addition to the 26th overall pick the Eagles also received the Browns 3rd round selection. Shocked is the word mostly everyone watching the draft used to describe this pick. Many debate if this was the best player available. Smith has the traits you want in a edge rusher. At 6’3, 252lbs Smith is lanky and has a knack for getting sacks. His game is still raw, but has star potential. He fits perfectly into the Eagles defensive scheme, while filling a huge need. Many saw this pick as a reach, including myself, but the longer I’ve had to digest it, the more I’m fine with the pick. The team got the player they wanted and stuck by their draft board.
