Pete Prisco makes an interesting choice for the most “overrated” Eagles. Here is what he had to say:
Overrated: QB Nick Foles – Let’s slow the train down some, OK. He did some good things last season, but you’d think he was a star already. It takes time. Let’s see him do it again. Not saying he can’t, but let’s see it again.”
Let’s slow down the train? Who is jumping to conclusions? Are fans claiming Nick Foles is the best quarterback in the league? According to Prisco, Nick Foles is “not as good as his reputation.”
Despite Nick Foles’ strong campaign last season, featuring 27 touchdowns and only two interceptions, Philadelphia Eagles and Football fans understand that he has to still prove himself to be compared with some of the greatest quarterbacks in football today. However, Prisco leaving off Nick Foles of his list of the 100 best players in the NFL, a list that featured 12 quarterbacks, was shocking. Nick Foles may not be the best quarterback in the league, but he is certainly better than some of the players that made the list: Peyton Manning (Denver Broncos), Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers), Tom Brady (New England Patriots), Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints), Ben Roethlisberger (Pittsburgh Steelers), Matt Ryan (Atlanta Falcons), Phillip Rivers (San Diego Chargers), Andrew Luck (Indianapolis Colts), Cam Newton (Carolina Panthers), Tony Romo (Dallas Cowboys), Russell Wilson (Seattle Seahawks) and Colin Kaepernick (San Francisco 49ers).
There are still plenty of questions that need to be addressed before Foles is listed among the great quarterbacks in the league. But, saying he is ‘overrated’ is inappropriate considering the lack of credit he has gotten for his success.
