Eagles Players Snubbed at 2014 ESPYs

Well, the ESPYs have come and gone and Philadelphia Eagles quaterback Nick Foles and running back LeSean McCoy were not awarded their perspective awards. This news is disappointing to be sure.

Though both men faced stiff competition I feel they were slighted by the recent voting. Not negating the competition and their feats on the field this year but Foles and McCoy made huge differences in their team. Foles was thrust into the starting position after former Eagles quarterback Michael Vick suffered a hamstring injury. He led the Eagles to an 8 and 1 record in the second half of the season and a season record 10 and 6.  Because of this leadership the Eagles found themselves in the playoffs one year after a 4 and 12 record the previous year.

The ESPYs are somewhat prestigious but they are completely selected by fans. That said, the popularity of some players surpasses their exploits. With the Eagles five prime time games this season maybe there will be more opportunity for that popularity to grow.

Both men were overlooked this season and it is unfortunate they were not recognized for their feats last season. No matter, they will continue to impress the Eagles’s fans this season as well.

Lesean wasn’t snubbed. Snubbed implies he should have won. he lost to Peyton Manning, a player that him, and everyone else should have lost to after the season Peyton had. as for foles, I don’t know who else was nominated for breakthrough athlete.
