Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles could be one of the most important acquisitions this off-season. With all the talk about Eagles wide receivers Jordan Matthews and Jordan Huff it’s easy to forget some of the veteran players acquired in Free Agency. In an earlier article Sproles’ versatility was discussed in detail. In some ways, he could become as vital as former Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook. But after a couple of days of practice one thing is clear; Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly plans to use Sproles in a number of roles.
What does that really mean? Kelly has proven he is one of the most innovative coaches the NFL has seen in some years. If both Sproles and Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy line up in the backfield it would create match-up problems for the defense. Eagles quarterback Nick Foles could read the defense, find the weakness and exploit it.
With Kelly’s up-tempo offense each opponent’s defense will be on their heels for most of the game. They’ll have no time to prepare between plays. Be ready to see Darren Sproles take part in some big plays this season.
